Using & returning the vehicle

No. Smoking is not permitted in ECR vehicles. A R250 smoking fine applies.
A R200 administration fee is charged for each traffic fine received, in addition to the value of the fine.

No. The current rental terms do not permit the vehicle to be operated outside South Africa.
The vehicle must be used safely and prudently. Damage or loss directly resulting from unpaved-road or unsuitable driving conditions may be the renter’s responsibility under the rental agreement.
Changes, extensions & returns
Extensions can be arranged subject to vehicle availability and payment arrangements. Contact ECR before the original return date.
If you return the vehicle earlier than the agreed return date, a fee equal to one day’s rental will be deducted, in accordance with our rental terms.
If the vehicle is not returned by the agreed end date, the current terms provide for collection of the vehicle and a R500 overdue rental administration fee.
Important: This FAQ is a plain-language guide. The signed Exclusive Car Rentals rental agreement governs the rental, including cover, liabilities, exclusions and renter responsibilities.
